On May 24, 6 members from the CPPCC National Committee were invited to the second “Members’ Passage” group interview of the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), where the event was held at the press conference room in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.
“The promotion for clean energy is imperative,” said Song Xin, CPPCC National Committee member and chairman of the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP). He indicated that there are demands for providing heating in the winter season in Northern China nowadays. However, traditional heating methods, such as burning coal, will raise pollution concerns and using electricity to provide heating is costly. Therefore, it is essential to develop clean energy in China.
Mr. Song explained that the extensive sewage pipeline network, surface water resources, industrial waste heat and shallow geothermal energy across China can be used to provide clean heating. “New buildings with floor areas totaling 2 billion square meters are added to China every year, of which 100 million square meters can use clean heating. If this goal is achieved, it can save 660,000 tons of standard coal each year, equivalent to planting 360,000 acres of trees,” he added. Song pointed out that the related companies have carried out projects in more than 40 cities so far.

打好污染防治攻坚战的决胜之年，清洁供暖进展如何？全国政协委员、中国节能环保集团党委书记、董事长宋鑫说，现在南方也有了冬季供暖的需求，采取传统的烧煤供暖会有雾霾，用电采暖费用过高，清洁能源推广势在必行。形象地说，清洁供暖就是冬天里的“火盆子”“暖水袋”。
宋鑫说,全国有大量污水管网、地表江河水源、工业余热和浅层地热能等,都可以作为清洁供暖的资源。全国每年新增约20亿平米建筑,其中1亿平米可采用清洁供暖。如果全部实施的话,每年可新增节约标准煤66万吨,相当于植树造林36万亩。目前，相关企业已经在全国40多个城市探索履行央企责任，推广清洁能源，让天蓝水清地绿。
